As modern infrastructure transitions to higher spectral efficiencies, the term 100 Gigabit SFP has expanded from standard SFP footprints to more dense configurations like QSFP28 (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable 28) and the emerging SFP-DD (Small Form-factor Pluggable Double Density). In standard high-capacity switches, QSFP28 remains the dominant standard for 100G transmission due to its optimal balance of thermal dissipation, spatial footprint, and power efficiency.

Electrical Interfaces & Signal Integrity

100G QSFP28 transceivers utilize 4 parallel electrical channels, each operating at 25 Gbps (NRZ modulation) to aggregate a total bandwidth of 100 Gbps. High-density SFP-DD configurations utilize 2 channels of PAM4 signaling at 50 Gbps to achieve the same throughput in a smaller physical outline. Laser Assembly Technologies

Depending on reach requirements, we use VCSEL lasers for cost-sensitive multimode short-reach applications (SR4, up to 100m) and high-performance DML (Distributed Feedback) or EML (Electro-absorption Modulated) lasers for single-mode, long-reach applications (LR4, ER4, up to 40km). Each laser type undergoes extensive testing to prevent premature degradation.
