The 16F MPO optical adapter / MTP fiber coupler (often used with MPO-16 connector / MTP-16 connectors) is a high-density fiber optic adapter that is used to securely mate two 16-fiber MPO / MTP trunk cables or connect transceivers in data centers.
They typically feature an offset keying mechanism to prevent accidental insertion of standard 12-fiber cables into 16-fiber setups. It is designed specifically for MPO-16 / MTP-16 connectors.
Similar to common types of fiber optic adapters, the MPO-16 optical fiber coupler / MTP-16 fiber adapter is normally used on fiber optic patch panels, fiber optic module boxes, and fiber optic terminal boxes that come with MPO/MTP trunk cables.
The 16F MPO optical adapter / MTP fiber coupler is a flange adapter with screw holes on two sides of the adapter so that it can be better fixed into the patch panel plate.
The MPO optical adapter / MTP fiber optic coupler is available in two key orientation configurations:
Key Up to Key Down: Used for standard Type A MPO / MTP trunk cables.
Key Up to Key Up: Used for standard Type B MPO / MTP trunk cables.
The key position of the 16F MPO optical adapter / MTP fiber coupler is designed differently compared to the 12F MPO / MTP adapter to ensure correct alignment.
