Product Description

MTP/MPO harness cable, also called MTP/MPO breakout cable or MTP/MPO fan-out cable, is a fiber optic cable terminated with MTP/MPO connectors on one end and FC (or LC/ SC/ ST, etc) connector on the other end.

The main cable is usually 3.0mm LSZH Round cable, breakout 2.0mm cable. We can do Standard type and Elite type both. For the jacket cable we can do 3.0mm round cable also can be flat jacketed ribbon cable or bare ribbon MTP cables.

We can offer Single mode and Multimode MTP fiber optical patch cables, custom design MTP fiber optic cable assemblies, Single mode, Multimode OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5. It is Available in 16 cores (or 8 cores, 12cores, 24cores, 48core, etc).

MTP/MPO harness cables are designed for high density applications requiring high performance and speedy installation. Harness cables provide a transition from multi-fibers cables to individual fibers or duplex connectors. Female and Male MPO/MTP Connector is available and Male type connector has pins.

Multimode Fiber Technology & Features
Multimode fiber optic cable has a large diametral core that allows multiple modes of light to propagate. Because of this, the number of light reflections created as the light passes through the core increases, creating the ability for more data to pass through at a given time. Because of the high dispersion and attenuation rate with this type of fiber, the quality of the signal is reduced over long distances. This application is typically used for short distance, data and audio/video applications in LANs.
Multimode fibers are described by their core and cladding diameters. Usually, the diameter of the multi-mode fiber is either 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm. At present, there are four kinds of multi-mode fibers: OM1, OM2, OM3 and OM4.

OM1 Cable

OM1 cable typically comes with an orange jacket and has a core size of 62.5 micrometers (µm). It can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 33 meters. It is most commonly used for 100 Megabit Ethernet applications.

OM2 Cable

OM2 also has a suggested jacket color of orange. Its core size is 50µm instead of 62.5µm. It supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 82 meters but is more commonly used for 1 Gigabit Ethernet applications.

OM3 Cable

OM3 has a suggested jacket color of aqua. Like OM2, its core size is 50µm. OM3 supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 300 meters. Besides OM3 is able to support 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet up to 100 meters. 10 Gigabit Ethernet is its most common use.

OM4 Cable

OM4 also has a suggested jacket color of aqua. It is a further improvement to OM3. It also uses a 50µm core but it supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up 550 meters and it supports 100 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 150 meters.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is an MTP/MPO harness cable?
An MTP/MPO harness cable (also known as a breakout or fan-out cable) is a fiber optic cable terminated with an MTP/MPO connector on one end and individual connectors (such as FC, LC, SC, or ST) on the other end. It is designed to transition multi-fiber cables to individual fibers or duplex connectors.
What is the difference between Elite and Standard MTP/MPO connectors?
The main difference is the Insertion Loss. Elite connectors provide a lower insertion loss (typically ≤0.35 dB for both Single Mode and Multimode), while Standard connectors have an insertion loss of ≤0.75 dB for Single Mode and ≤0.60 dB for Multimode.
Which core counts are available for MTP/MPO breakout cables?
These harness cables are available in multiple fiber counts, including 8 cores, 12 cores, 16 cores, 24 cores, and 48 cores to match different high-density networking requirements.
How do I choose between OM3 and OM4 multimode fibers?
Both OM3 and OM4 fibers have a 50µm core diameter and aqua jackets. However, OM4 offers higher bandwidth and supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 550 meters (compared to 300 meters for OM3) and 100 Gigabit Ethernet up to 150 meters (compared to 100 meters for OM3).
Are the MTP/MPO harness cables tested before shipping?
Yes, all cables are factory-pre-terminated and 100% tested for low insertion loss and back reflection. They arrive ready for deployment and are shipped with protective and pulling sleeves for crush resistance.
